For the Love of Dogs  

The Mushy & Mama Foundation, For the Love of Dogs, was founded in memory of Mushy, New Yorker Denise Buffa's beloved mastiff, who died tragically of electrocution in a New York City park on June 6, 2007.

What We Do

Our goal is to foster the appreciation and protection of dogs.

-- Founder Denise Buffa testified against stray voltage before the New York City Council on Jan. 24, 2008.

-- The foundation offered a $500 reward for the safe return of show mastiff Pounder, who was dognapped in New Jersey in March 2008.

 -- The foundation offered support to Celia Sing, the Long Island City woman who senselessly lost her Siberian Husky, Sebastian, to stray voltage on Memorial Day weekend 2008.

-- The foundation held a press conference and protest 11 am. Sunday, June 8, 2008, at Marcus Garvey Park in Harlem, where Mushy was electrocuted. Buffa announced her negligence lawsuit against Con Ed and the city.

-- November 2008 - Foundation founder Denise Buffa attended a fund-raising event on the Upper West Side to help defray veterinary expenses suffered by Celia Sing when she senselessly lost her Siberian Husky, Sebastian, to stay voltage.

-- Jan. 15, 2009 - The foundation's attorney, Peter Gleason, had a conference regarding Buffa's lawsuit.  Con Ed claims it had nothing to do with Mushy's death.  The city offers $1.500 to replace Mushy. Gleason rejects the offer, which doesn't include the astronomical veterinary bills Buffa incurred to try to save Mushy or the cost of installing an alarm system in her apartment to replace her mastiff's excellent guarding abilities.
